Overview
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support growing pre-production and launch activities within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on identifying and resolving build and quality issues supporting early-stage production and ensuring product integrity across Body Shop and General Assembly operations.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work directly within the vehicle development process gaining hands-on experience from early builds through production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve build and quality issues during pre-production and launch phases
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve product quality
- Develop and maintain quality documentation including tracking issues and follow-ups
- Analyze quality data and apply statistical methods to identify trends and drive improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering production and quality
- Interpret technical drawings specifications and process requirements to ensure compliance
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing operations
Work Environment
- High level of interaction with cross-functional teams while maintaining ownership of assigned work
- Hands-on manufacturing environment with exposure to:
- Body Shop (robotic cells welding fabrication)
- General Assembly (interior trim final systems)
- Role is documentation-heavy with a strong focus on follow-up and issue resolution
- Combination of independent work and team collaboration
Typical Day
- Investigating and documenting build issues on the production floor
- Collaborating with engineering and production teams to resolve quality concerns
- Performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Tracking and reporting progress on quality issues
- Supporting ongoing pre-production and launch activities
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related field preferred)
- Open to recent graduates with relevant knowledge or internship experience
- Automotive or manufacturing experience is a plus
Required Skills
- Powertrain / Propulsion Knowledge:
- Fundamental understanding of engines transmissions or drive systems
- Exposure to machine operations or manufacturing processes
- Problem-Solving & Root Cause Analysis:
- Ability to investigate issues and develop effective solutions
- Statistical Analysis:
- Experience using tools such as Minitab or similar for data analysis
- Teamwork & Collaboration:
- Ability to work effectively across diverse teams and functions
- Communication Skills:
- Ability to explain technical information clearly to various stakeholders
