FLSA STATUS: Exempt (Full-Time)
POSITION SUMMARY
Bristol Health is seeking a dynamic business-minded Occupational Health Services Manager to lead daily operations at our specialized MedWorks facility. This critical leadership role requires a strong clinical background (Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse) to merge hands-on case management with active business development. The manager will drive the growth and profitability of our occupational health services by actively onboarding new corporate clients managing the program budget and serving as the primary liaison for workers compensation insurance carriers. The successful candidate will ensure seamless new-hire screenings for our employer partners facilitate proactive workplace ergonomic strategies and act as a tight liaison with Human Resources to support medical accommodations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Workers Compensation Case Management & Insurance Liaison
- Active Case Management: Utilize your clinical background to oversee full-cycle case management for all work-related injuries ensuring appropriate utilization of medical services and timely reporting.
- Carrier Partnership: Work closely with workers compensation insurance carriers to facilitate claims processing authorize specialized treatments and streamline clinical documentation.
- Return-to-Work Coordination: Evaluate medical documentation and employee progress to establish clear safe return-to-work timelines in alignment with carrier guidelines and employer needs.
2. Growth Strategy & Client Acquisition
- Corporate Outreach: Develop and execute a localized B2B growth strategy to acquire new corporate accounts and employers within the Greater Bristol and Central Connecticut region.
- Employer Consultation: Meet with local business leaders safety managers and HR directors to pitch customized occupational health service packages tailored to their specific regulatory needs.
- Program Marketing: Collaborate with Bristol Healths marketing and business development teams to raise awareness of MedWorks cost-effective health solutions.
3. Budget Ownership & Financial Management
- P&L Responsibility: Manage the clinics operational budget control expenditures and identify opportunities to maximize revenue.
- Corporate Billing: Oversee the accuracy of complex corporate invoicing fee-for-service structures and workers compensation claims tracking.
- Supply & Asset Control: Supervise medical and office supply inventories ensuring clinical staff have necessary screening devices drug testing kits and PPE.
4. Workplace Injury Management & Continuity of Care
- Internal Network Steering: Ensure acute work-related injuries are treated managed and referred within the Bristol Health continuum (including emergency care urgent care or specialist networks) to maintain top-tier continuity of care.
- Liaison to Specialists: Seamlessly coordinate follow-up appointments with orthopedic surgeons neurologists and physical therapists.
5. Effective New Hire & Screening Processes
- Onboarding Execution: Oversee high-volume pre-employment screening pipelines to ensure fast turnaround times for employer partners.
- Regulatory Compliance Screening: Direct the execution of drug and alcohol testing (FAA DOT NHTSA and FMCSA compliant) physical exams and specialty screenings.
- Capacity & Physical Testing: Ensure proper clinical administration of capacity evaluations lift tests and pulmonary function testing.
6. Ergonomics & HR Partnership
- Ergonomic Assessments: Facilitate and coordinate independent medical work-site evaluations and ergonomic assessments to increase overall workplace safety.
Accommodation Support: Partner closely with Bristol Health HR or external corporate HR departments to review physical capacities facilitate return-to-work programs and support reasonable accommodation needs for employees.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Required Education & Clinical Licensure
- Clinical Licensure: Active unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Connecticut.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Nursing Healthcare Administration Business or a related field preferred.
Required Experience & Knowledge
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of medical office management or clinical leadership experience with a heavy focus on occupational medicine workers compensation case management and carrier relations.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong familiarity with OSHA reporting DOT drug testing standards and Connecticut workers compensation regulations.
Required Skills
- Proven business development or B2B sales background.
- Strong proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and data-driven budget management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with corporate clients and insurance carriers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Occasional travel to local corporate client sites for meetings or ergonomic assessments.
