POSITION GRADE: Grade 2

WORK HOURS PER WEEK: 25 hours

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $16.82

REPORTS TO: Food Service Manager

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time /Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: The food service assistant/driver aids in preparing meals for customers in the Head Start Program per regulations and recommendations of the CACFP and the Department of Health along with maintaining a clean safe food service environment. Required to transport meals using an agency vehicle.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: THE MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

Prepares food following the Department of Health and HACCP guidelines taking into consideration attendance recipes dietary restraints regulations and delivery times.

Record Keeping- by assisting with inventory stock control and program requirements.

Assists in maintaining a strong support network with all staff in the agency and throughout agency sponsored programs.

Washes dishes cleans and maintains all kitchen work and food storage areas and vehicles used in the transport of food.

Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: In the absence of the Food Service Manager this employee may be asked to supervise food service aides.

MINIMUM REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not mandatory. Must be able to read and follow both verbal and written instructions with minimum supervision.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Six months work experience in food service required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION: This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a satisfactory pre-employment physical examination and TB test. All employment is conditional pending the receipt of background clearance at the time of hire and employees will be required to sign an affidavit annually which states that they have not been indicated with a child abuse or neglect case within the past year.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Commercial kitchen and agency vehicles.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information; must be non-judgmental in working with customers and staff must maintain a professional appearance in manner and attire when dealing with co-workers clients and the general public.

EQUIPMENT USED: Stoves refrigerators knives electric slicer food prep items and agency vehicles. Required to wear gloves and hair restraints.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must be able to read and follow both written and verbal instructions with minimum supervision. 2. Must be able to lift 40 pounds and be able to stand for long uninterrupted periods of time. 3. Must take and pass a required physical and TB test prior to employment.
