The Opportunity

Dudley is a town with a proud history of engineering and mathematical application from the precision of the Black Countrys industrial past to its modern role in the West Midlands tech growth. We are seeking a Maths Teacher who can help students unlock the power of numbers logic and problem-solving. This role involves teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 with potential for A-Level Mathematics (including Core Statistics or Mechanics) for a candidate with the right expertise.

The Department

• You will join a high-performing and collaborative Mathematics faculty that prioritizes mastery and conceptual understanding over rote learning.

• We utilize a data-driven approach to track student progress allowing for timely interventions and personalized support to ensure no student is left behind.

• The department hosts regular Maths Challenges and STEM-focused extracurricular events to show students the real-world applications of the subject in fields like architecture coding and finance.

Core Responsibilities

1. Delivering high-quality lessons that build students fluency in numeracy algebra geometry and ratio.

2. Modelling mathematical thinking and problem-solving strategies helping students to break down multi-step problems with confidence.

3. Preparing Year 11 students for GCSE Mathematics (Higher and Foundation tiers) focusing on both procedural accuracy and the ability to explain mathematical reasoning.

4. Implementing effective retrieval practice to help students retain complex formulas and theorems throughout the academic year.

5. Fostering a growth mindset in the classroom where mistakes are seen as a vital part of the learning process in a challenging subject.

The Successful Candidate We are looking for a numeracy specialist who is as passionate about the beauty of a solved equation as they are about student progress. Requirements include:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Mathematics Engineering Physics or a related quantitative discipline.

• A proven ability to differentiate lessons for a wide range of abilities ensuring high-attaining students are stretched and those with gaps in knowledge are supported.

• Strong subject knowledge across the current GCSE specifications (e.g. AQA Edexcel or OCR).

• Excellent classroom management and the ability to inspire resilience in students when tackling difficult abstract concepts.
