Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Database Engineering Lead to architect manage and modernize enterprise database environments across hybrid and cloud platforms. This role requires strong expertise in Oracle and MSSQL Server with a focus on Azure cloud migrations database reliability and security compliance in regulated environments. Key Responsibilities
Database Architecture & Engineering:
- Design deploy and maintain Oracle and MSSQL Server platforms
- Architect HA/DR solutions (Oracle Data Guard RAC replication)
- Optimize performance (indexing partitioning query tuning)
- Maintain database standards and documentation
Cloud & Modernization:
- Lead database migrations to Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS)
- Architect hybrid cloud environments (Azure GovCloud on-prem)
- Implement monitoring automation and scaling strategies
Security & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with FedRAMP FISMA NIST 800-53 STIG
- Handle STIG vulnerability remediation (Cat I III)
- Support audits and POA&M tracking
Operations & Reliability:
- Manage 24/7 production database operations
- Implement monitoring (Azure Monitor Oracle OEM)
- Oversee backup/recovery (RMAN Data Pump)
- Handle patching upgrades lifecycle management
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead and mentor engineering teams
- Manage incident/change processes
- Guide DBAs on architecture and best practices
- Collaborate with infra app and security teams
Database:
- Oracle (10g 19c)
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Oracle RAC Data Guard RMAN OEM
Cloud & Infrastructure:
- Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS)
- Azure Networking (VNets NSGs Load Balancers)
- Azure Storage (Disks Blob Files)
- Monitoring & Logging
- Hybrid cloud architecture
Operating Systems:
- Linux (RHEL / Oracle Linux)
- Windows Server
Automation:
- Bash / Shell scripting
- PowerShell
- Experience with US Federal / Defense projects
- Azure GovCloud experience
- Oracle to PostgreSQL migration experience
- Experience in regulated industries
- Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience)
Preferred:
- PMP
- CompTIA Security / CASP
- Azure / Oracle certifications
- Active or eligible for US Government Security Clearance (preferred)
