Project Overview
The NYC Office of Technology and Innovation is leading a critical initiative to redesign the NYC Secure App and launch a city-wide campaign to combat scam calls and messages.
This project aims to provide New Yorkers with tools to prevent scams educate vulnerable populations and support victims addressing an estimated $6.5B annual loss due to scams.
The solution will integrate across NYC platforms including Cybersecurity 311 and Digital Equity programs.
Role Overview
We are seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to lead the end-to-end technical development of new features for the NYC Secure App (iOS & Android) and supporting web platforms.
The ideal candidate will build scalable secure and privacy-focused systems working closely with cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 4 years of experience as a Software Engineer / Application Developer
- Strong full-stack development experience (responsive web applications)
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (design product)
- Hands-on experience with Git-based workflows
- Experience with Agile tools (JIRA Azure DevOps Trello etc.)
- Experience leading technical design & implementation planning
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with design system libraries
- Experience in mobile application development (iOS & Android)
- Knowledge of security protocols encryption and privacy-by-design principles
- Experience integrating with large-scale or legacy enterprise systems
