This role is part of a stateoftheart R&D organization with a culture that combines the resources of a global company with the agility needed to make a meaningful impact. This position focuses on the development and implementation of innovative imaging and videoprocessing algorithms including Dolby Vision and related technologies. Contributions from this role will help shape Dolbys product and technology roadmap.
Essential Job Functions
- Develop implement assess and optimize Dolby imaging and video algorithms and software on consumer devices such as digital televisions settop box systems and mobile cameras.
- Apply expertise in camera pipelines multicamera systems and computational photography including HDR technologies.
- Optimize algorithm performance on CPU and GPU processors.
- Translate proofofconcept research into highquality highperformance software deliverables.
- Collaborate with engineers product managers and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliver robust software solutions.
- Work crossfunctionally with internal teams and external partners to achieve bestinclass performance.
- Contribute effectively within a fastpaced development environment; experience working in Agile teams is a plus.
- Partner with Software Quality Assurance (SQA) teams to enhance test setups including hardware software and automated testing environments.
- Follow best practices for source control continuous integration automated testing and release management.
- Produce and maintain clear useful and accessible technical documentation.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering or a related field with a strong focus on multimedia technologies plus 5 years of professional experience in imaging system engineering or application engineering.
- Strong programming experience in C and/or C.
- Experience porting MATLAB code to C/C.
- Experience optimizing C/C code for CPU performance using multithreading or SIMD instructions.
- Professional experience in computer graphics computer vision image processing and/or video processing.
- Linux development experience.
- Familiarity with Perforce or Git and Jira.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience accelerating C/C code on GPU processors using graphics APIs such as OpenGL Vulkan or Direct3D.
- Proficiency in GPU optimization using compute programming frameworks such as CUDA or OpenCL.
- Experience developing and deploying machine learning algorithms in production environments.
- Knowledge of image signal processing (ISP) pipelines.
- Experience with camera hardware and software integration.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Knowledge of video technologies including production and postproduction workflows.
- Familiarity with HDR technologies such as Dolby Vision HDR10 and HLG.

The San Francisco/Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is $170600 - 234200 which can vary if outside this locationplus bonus benefits and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role level and location. Within the range individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills competencies experience market demands internal parity and relevant education or training.
