USD 287 - West Franklin Schools is currently accepting applications for 6-12 Principal for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will work closely with the Superintendentand school staff to provide leadership for the schools educational programs. Direct responsibilities include teacher supervision and evaluation student supervision and discipline and other duties as assigned. This position has a 220-day contract with a contract start date of July 30 2026.

Successful candidates with a minimum of three years of certified experience preferred. Candidates must possess appropriate Kansas administrative certification and successful teaching and/or administrative experience at the secondary level.

West Franklin USD 287 is located in Franklin County KS and provides instruction to approximately 650 students. The district includes the following schools: West Franklin Elementary at Appanoose (PK - 5) West Franklin Elementary at Williamsburg (PK-5) West Franklin Middle School (6-8) and West Franklin High School (9-12). West Franklin USD 287 serves the communities of Centropolis Pomona and Williamsburg. USD 287 is a member of the Three Lakes Education Cooperative.

West Franklin Middle/High School is located in Pomona KS. We are about 45 minutes southeast of Topeka35 minutes southwest of Lawrence and less than an hour from the Kansas City metro area. USD 287 patrons recently passed a bond issue which provided building improvements throughout the district. The Middle/High Schoolsaw theconstruction of a new music room weight room ag shop wood shop gymnasium and track.

West Franklin Middle/High School employs 37 certified faculty 2 counselors athletic director and 2 administrators. The 340 students on our campus have the opportunity to take part in 8 Career and Technical Education pathways numerous clubs and activities including9 different sports. West Franklin High School is in the 2A classification for football and 3A for all other sports. West Franklin Middle/High School is a member of the Flint Hills League consisting of Alma-Wabaunsee Cair Paravel Chase County Council Grove Lyndon Mission Valley Osage City and West Franklin.
