Role Overview

We are seeking a developer with strong C firmware and Python experience to support firmware code uplift initiatives while also maintaining and improving development environments used by firmware teams. The role will focus on modernizing firmware codebases implementing AI-assisted development guardrails and improving development workflows across tools and environments.

Priority Skills & Responsibilities

Firmware Development & Code Uplift

• Strong experience with C firmware development and/or C unit testing (UT).
• Support uplifting existing firmware code and scripts to improve quality maintainability and AI compatibility.
• Apply AI guardrails and best practices to firmware codebases.

Python & Code Quality

• Proficiency in Python scripting and automation.
• Experience with PyLint and Python code quality frameworks.
• Improve and maintain Python-based tooling used in firmware workflows.

AI-Assisted Development (Preferred)

• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot.
• Guide AI-assisted code generation to improve productivity and maintain code quality.
• Write Copilot guidance markdowns and documentation to help train and guide AI usage within development teams.

Development Environment Support

Firmware Development Tools

• Support firmware developer environments including:

• • VS Code
  • Visual Studio (SAFE only)
  • Probe tools such as GHS

• Maintain and support existing development solutions while assisting with the transition to centralized development environments.

Virtual Machine & IT Coordination

• Act as the maintainer and primary interface for VM environments used by firmware developers.
• Work closely with IT teams to ensure stability and usability of development environments.

DevOps & Containerization

Docker Environment Maintenance

• Maintain and support Docker images used across firmware products.
• Support the VS Code Docker development environment.

Container Best Practices

• Communicate and document Best Known Methods (BKMs) for container maintenance.
• Help teams adopt standardized containerized development workflows.

Development Integration

• Collaborate with simulator teams to ensure smooth integration between simulation environments and firmware development workflows.
• Develop tools and optimizations to improve development efficiency and developer experience.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with large firmware codebases.
• Familiarity with development environment automation and tooling.
• Experience improving developer productivity through automation or AI tools.
