The School of Biomedical Sciences is at the forefront of anatomical education and research delivering high-quality hands-on learning experiences that underpin the development of future healthcare professionals.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Technical Team Leader (Anatomy) to take a leading role in the operation of our Anatomy Teaching Laboratory at Callaghan. This is a unique opportunity to combine your technical expertise in human dissection and embalming with leadership mentoring and oversight in a highly respected academic environment.

In this role you will ensure the seamless delivery of anatomy teaching and surgical training by overseeing the preparation of cadaveric resources and supporting the body donor program across both Callaghan and Gosford campuses. You will work closely with the School Operations Manager while leading a dedicated technical team driving excellence consistency and innovation in laboratory practices.

Beyond the day-to-day this is a role where your impact is tangible supporting the education of the next generation of doctors nurses and allied health professionals.

This is a continuing full-time opportunity at HEW Level 6 based at Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land).

About You

You are an experienced technical professional with a strong background in anatomy and a natural ability to lead and develop people. You thrive in dynamic environments and bring a collaborative solutions-focused approach to managing competing priorities.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience leading and managing teams ideally within an anatomy laboratory or health-related environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate conflict and balance the needs of a large team with diverse and sometimes competing priorities
  • A genuine commitment to team building training and mentoring fostering a positive and high-performing culture
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced service-oriented environment with multiple deadlines and stakeholders
  • High-level organisational skills and attention to detail in coordinating laboratory operations and teaching support
  • Willingness to participate in a 24-hour roster to support the body donor program

This continuing position is full time at a HEW 6 Higher Education Level and will be based at Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land)

The School of Biomedical Sciences & Pharmacy is one of the Universitys most research-intensive schools and is currently ranked very high in the university in terms of external research funding. Our researchers apply cutting edge technology and relevant disease models to address important questions and accelerate knowledge transfer. Our research themes include Immunology Nutrition Exercise and Cardiovascular Disease Neuroscience Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science and Reproductive Science.
