Junior Legal Advisor – Asset Management Pretoria

Introduction

A well-established medium-sized Pretoria-based asset management and wealth management group is seeking a Junior Legal Advisor to join its Group Legal function.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a newly admitted attorney or junior legal professional to gain valuable in-house experience within a highly regulated financial services environment.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented analytical and able to manage high volumes of complex legal work in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal support to Group Legal across the business and affiliated entities
• Assist with corporate governance and compliance frameworks
• Draft review and negotiate commercial agreements and legal documents
• Prepare board packs resolutions and shareholder documentation
• Support compliance with regulatory requirements (FSCA Companies Act NCA)
• Assist with legal risk management and advisory services
• Maintain and manage legal records and documentation systems
• Provide general legal administrative support across the group structure
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external advisors

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications:

• BCom Law / BA Law / LLB Degree
• Admitted Attorney

Experience:

• 1 – 2 years PQE and/or newly admitted attorney
• Exposure to commercial / corporate law (advantageous)
• Experience within financial services or asset management (beneficial)

Knowledge & Skills

• Sound understanding of the Companies Act
• Working knowledge of the National Credit Act (NCA)
• Understanding of FSCA regulatory framework (advantageous)
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Ability to manage high-volume detail-driven legal work
• Excellent contract drafting and legal writing skills
• Strong administrative and organisational abilities
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Fully bilingual (English & Afrikaans)
