Job Summary

Fire Service Engineer

Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Field-based across London and the South East
Contract Type: Permanent

Overview

An opportunity is available for an experienced Fire Service Engineer to join a growing and well-established engineering team. This role is suited to a technically confident individual who enjoys working independently takes pride in delivering high standards and is committed to maintaining life safety systems.

The successful candidate will play a key role in servicing and maintaining fire detection and suppression systems across a variety of client sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service maintain and carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on fire detection and suppression systems
  • Respond to emergency callouts and provide professional on-site support
  • Participate in a callout rota
  • Diagnose faults and carry out minor repairs during service visits
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant British Standards and is accurately documented
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance or enhance safety
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through ongoing training

Requirements

  • Proven experience within the fire protection or life safety industry
  • Strong servicing and fault-finding skills across a range of fire alarm systems
  • Experience working with multiple system manufacturers
  • Commissioning capability on at least one major fire alarm platform
  • Ability to test commission and service systems in line with British Standards
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive solutions-focused approach
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required
