You may already have some laboratory experience or be looking to start your career within a scientific environment with a strong willingness to learn and develop your skills.
Required skills and experience:
- Some relevant laboratory experience is preferred; full training will be provided
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Basic IT literacy skills
- Flexible and responsive approach to supporting both routine and non-routine tasks
- Motivated with a strong willingness to learn and develop
- Experience with common pharmaceutical materials and laboratory equipment would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive and organised approach
- Ability to maintain high standards of housekeeping and compliance within a regulated environment
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
To perform the role and responsibilities of a Facilities Technician within a laboratory environment providing essential support to technical teams and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of laboratory operations.
You will support a range of activities including sample processing equipment maintenance stock control and general laboratory housekeeping all in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team in Manchester supporting laboratory operations within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Key activities:
- Provide laboratory support services including processing of samples and equipment management
- Ensure a clean and sufficient supply of glassware is available following SOPs for cleaning and drying
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across all laboratory areas
- Process incoming samples in line with SOPs
- Carry out stock checks of laboratory consumables and raise orders as required
- Receive and manage deliveries ensuring accurate processing and distribution to laboratory users
- Maintain organisation within Goods-In and Goods-Out areas including stock rotation and disposal of expired materials
- Perform routine maintenance and checks on laboratory equipment such as glass washers and purified water systems
- Carry out routine equipment qualification (e.g. balances and pH meters)
- Support the disposal of tested samples in accordance with procedures
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure smooth workflow and issue resolution
