Summary :

ThedaCare part of Froedtert ThedaCare Inc. is a rapidly growing heath system providing trauma care across the spectrum of rural and urban settings throughout North-Eastern Wisconsin. The Froedtert ThedaCare North Region consists of 10 hospitals & CAHS. These range from trauma undesignated critical access hospitals state designated level 3-4 centers and an ACS verified Level II trauma center located in Neenah WI. The North Region is aligned with the ACS verified Level I center at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee WI and is a national leader in trauma care and research. We are seeking an experienced Senior Trauma Research Scientist with proven history of successful development of trauma research infrastructure and translation of trauma research guiding quality improvement and institutional strategic priority throughout the continuum of trauma care in our organization.

SPAN OF CONTROL: Reporting to the Director of Clinical Research the Senior Research Scientist is responsible for overseeing the development governance and scale of the trauma research infrastructure across the Froedtert ThedaCare North Region. The Senior research scientist will drive innovation and strategy utilizing techniques acquired throughout training and experience to design execute and disseminate complex studies in the field of trauma.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with trauma leadership to drive trauma institutional strategic priority and trauma research
  • Lead system-level trauma research strategy with emphasis on evidence based rural and urban triage consistent with clinical best practices
  • Develop and direct a multidisciplinary team focused on rapid-cycle outcomes and translation research in alignment with American College of Surgeons (ACS) verification and quality standards.
  • Assist with resident and nursing graduate/undergraduate research in the field of trauma
  • Collaborate with clinical research office (CRO) in oversight of grant proposal and compliance and trauma related IRB management
  • Interface with a multicenter trauma registry team leading and implementing evidence-based campus wide quality and national performance improvement initiatives.
  • Provide fiscal stewardship for trauma research funds grants and other external sources of funding
  • Comply with all ThedaCare policies and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintain contemporary professional knowledge and education. Maintain good standing within the community and ThedaCare.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

  • EDUCATION
    • Minimum Required: A Doctoral degree (PhD MD MD/PhD) in a related field with at least five years of postdoctoral trauma experience and be recognized as an expert in the field of trauma research OR an equivalent combination of education training and experience as determined by Human Resources with the VP of GME.
    • Additional: Knowledge of aspects of finance human resources and background in healthcare or emergency services a plus.
  • LICENSURE
    • Minimum Required: Dependent on Degree
  • PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
    • Minimum Required: Candidates must have a robust publication record demonstrating national scholarly contributions across the trauma landscape.
  • LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
    • Minimum Required: The ability to effectively build positive constructive relationships with others aimed at building collaboration consensus and high-performance teams
      • Models professionalism in work quality actions interpersonal skills and communications with constituents and business partners

  • TECHNICAL SKILLS & ABILITIES
    • Minimum Required: Deep expertise in trauma-specific research data management statistical modeling (SPSS R SAS) and clinical trial methodology. Strategic planning effective management of resources and employee supervision.
      • Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs
