Minimum Requirements:
- High school graduate/GED; Must be 18 years or older
- Current registration as a Medication Aide and Nurse Aide in good standing issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including customer service patience empathy and compassion
- Good collaboration and teamwork skills
- Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities
- In-depth understanding of patient care policies and regulations
- Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for a number of medical conditions
- Comfortable working with specific populations of patients including elderly patients and those with special needs
- Physical strength and stamina

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Administer medications in accordance with accepted practices presented in the Virginia Board of Nursing Medication Aide Regulations.
- Document in Medication Administration Record (MAR) all medications administered.
- Check and record vital signs weights and blood sugars as ordered and record.
- Successfully pass a medication administration observation at least annually.
- Provide for or assist patients with activities of daily living as needed including bathe/shower according to schedule oral care toileting dressing etc.
- Assist residents with transfers and ambulation as directed and ordered by the physician using proper body mechanics. Use of facility gait belts and mechanical devices is required.
- Assist other staff with heavy lifting transferring and use of proper equipment according to policy and physicians orders.
