Job Summary
AHRC New York City is seeking a Senior Paralegal for their Administrative department.
Salary: 100000 per year plus a comprehensive Benefit Package. See Benefit information below.
Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday office position.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate meetings with the CLO and agency staff and external parties as necessary.
- Maintain Legal Department files and databases.
- Track Legal Department budget expenses and process payment of invoices.
- Draft minutes of meetings as requested by CLO.
- Assist CLO in contract administration to ensure efficient review of agency contracts and conduct fact-finding so that the CLO can provide legal guidance as needed.
- Assist CLO in governance matters including preparing for Board meetings.
- Assist CLO in supporting the Human Resources Department in various employment retirement benefits and union matters.
- Assist CLO in insurance safety risk management and litigation.
- Assist CLO in compliance privacy data security and regulatory matters and liaise with Corporate Compliance and Information Technology Departments as necessary.
- Liaise with Real Property Department in landlord/ tenant matters and negotiations dispute resolution and real estate transactions.
- Liaise with other Program and Administration Departments as required to ensure that matters requiring assistance of the Legal Department and requests for information from the Legal Department are prioritized and handled appropriately.
- Assist CLO in preparing presentations and materials for various meetings.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve legal administration workflows and document templates to drive efficiency and consistency across the organization.
Qualifications :
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree or Paralegal Certificate required; Bachelors Degree preferred. Several years of work experience as a paralegal in a law firm required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word Outlook Excel PowerPoint) SharePoint and other technology platforms.
- Strong interpersonal writing and verbal communication skills.
- Critical thinker curious and proactive.
- Superior organizational skills and ability to manage time and tasks independently problem-solve and multiple projects simultaneously.
- High ethical standards with a commitment to integrity accountability professionalism and confidentiality.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and legal principles.
- Collaborative and congenial with staff in the organization Board members external counsel and agency partners.
- Demonstrated interest in working at a mission-driven not-for-profit organization particularly with a commitment to social justice.
