Extension Agriculture & Natural Resources Intern Iron County
Job Summary
Overview
Support programs that strengthen agriculture horticulture natural resources and forestry across Utah. This internship provides hands-on experience assisting with research-based education and outreach connecting university knowledge with real-world applications for producers land managers and communities. Interns will gain exposure to fieldwork program delivery and problem-solving in diverse agricultural and natural resource settings.
Youll join a team that values practical learning stewardship and strong community relationships. Work environments may include farms gardens natural areas and community events offering a dynamic and engaging experience. Flexible scheduling may be available depending on seasonal program needs. Responsibilities
- Assist with planning coordination and implementation of Extension programs (workshops field days youth camps)
- Support data collection entry and basic analysis for research and program evaluation (e.g. surveys monitoring projects)
- Help develop outreach materials including flyers social media content and educational resources
- Assist with fieldwork related to agriculture and natural resources projects (e.g. range monitoring weed management livestock programs)
- Engage with community members producers and youth participants during events and programming
Qualifications
Be an undergraduate student
Have an interest in the Extension program
- Be dependable
- Basic understanding of agriculture or willingness to learn quickly in applied field-based settings Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently (self-motivated) Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in dynamic environments Effective communication skills and willingness to engage with producers youth and community members
Preferred: Experience with livestock (cattle sheep horses) and/or participation in 4-H FFA or similar youth programs
Preference will be given to applicants with agricultural backgrounds particularly those with hands-on livestock experience and involvement in 4-H or FFA. The ideal candidate is self-motivated dependable and able to take initiative while working both independently and as part of a team. This position includes a mix of office work fieldwork and community engagement so flexibility and a positive attitude are important.

This position requires moderate physical effort. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including lifting up to 25 pounds walking and standing. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
