The Liu Lab has grown in complexity and scope over time and requires a Lab Manager to manage and lead the daily operations of the lab. The incumbent will plan and lead operational outreach and promotional activities of a research program and serve as a subject matter expert in ophthalmic clinical research.
This position is full or part-time 50%-100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person onsite at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely at an offsite non-campus work location.
This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
Must provide a valid drivers license. Employees may use their own transportation or receive approval for University Car Fleet usage. Employment is conditional pending the results of a Pre-hire Driver Authorization Check. See (click on Become an authorized driver; then click on Required criteria).
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Serves as the unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups providing information making recommendations to leadership and representing the interests of the unit
- May exercise supervisory authority including hiring transferring suspending promoting managing conduct and performance discharging assigning rewarding disciplining and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
- Directs and supervises the day-to-day laboratory operations quality control programs and/or staff of a work unit to ensure compliance with organization and regulatory agency standards
- Develops and facilitates trainings regarding scientific experimentation technical procedures and equipment operations to various audiences
- Identifies proposes and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures in alignment with strategic initiatives and objectives
- Monitors program budgets and expenditures

Compensation:
The starting salary for the position is $79500 annually; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
Has worked closely with multi-disciplinary teams including biostatisticians and community healthcare workers in rural primary care settings required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience serving as central study coordinator of multicenter ophthalmic clinical trial preferred.
Education:
Bachelors Degree preferred
