The Opportunity

We are seeking an Economics Teacher who can help students decode the complexities of the financial world. This role involves teaching Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 guiding students through the mechanics of markets the impact of government policy and the global trade networks that influence their daily lives.

The Department

• You will join a high-achieving Social Sciences faculty that views Economics as an essential tool for understanding power wealth and inequality.

Core Responsibilities

1. Delivering intellectually rigorous lessons across Microeconomics and Macroeconomics ensuring students master foundational concepts like supply and demand market failure and aggregate demand.

2. Teaching students how to interpret and analyze complex economic data including GDP growth inflation indices and unemployment trends.

3. Preparing Year 11 and Year 13 students for GCSE and A-Level examinations with a heavy emphasis on developing the evaluative essay-writing skills required for top marks.

4. Facilitating healthy classroom debate on economic theoriesranging from Keynesianism to Free Market perspectivesand their application to current UK policy.

5. Leading extracurricular initiatives such as Young Enterprise investment clubs or national economic essay competitions to stretch high-attaining students.

The Successful Candidate We are looking for an analytical thinker who can make abstract theories tangible and relevant. Requirements include:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Economics Finance or a related Social Science discipline.

• Exceptional subject knowledge and a passion for staying current with global economic developments.

• A proven ability to teach the mathematical components of the specification including elasticities index numbers and exchange rate calculations.

• The communication skills necessary to engage students with diverse viewpoints and varying levels of prior economic understanding.
