Construction Project Scheduler

Join The Miller Electric team and play a critical role in planning and managing complex construction projects. The Project Scheduler reports directly to the Senior Project Manager or Project Director and works closely with Project Field Leadership to understand project scope and develop accurate schedules based on team input task relationships and durations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using Primavera P6 and other scheduling tools.
- Create Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and define activity relationships constraints and milestones.
- Incorporate resource and cost loading (labor equipment and materials) into schedules for accurate forecasting and earned value reporting.
- Perform critical path analysis and identify schedule risks and recovery strategies.
- Evaluate actual progress and provide regular schedule updates to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the General Contractor and key stakeholders to provide accurate status updates based on the internal master schedule ensuring alignment between internal and external reporting.
- Prepare detailed schedule reports variance analyses and dashboards for stakeholders.
- Perform forensic schedule analysis including delay analysis time impact studies and root cause evaluations.
- Support claims and dispute resolution with detailed schedule documentation and analysis.
- Work with Field Leaders to create and refine look-ahead schedules and micro schedules for specific tasks.
- Participate in weekly schedule updates with the General Contractor and report status based on internal updates.
- Export schedule data between Primavera P6 and Smartsheet platforms.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of schedule submissions for compliance.
- Assist Project Managers in creating short-term schedules and monitor their impact on the master schedule.
- Perform schedule comparison and analysis between previous and current schedules to identify shifts.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Required:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering Construction Management or related field.
- 8 years of experience in project scheduling for electrical or industrial projects
- Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6; experience with Smartsheet and other planning tools preferred.
- Experience with resource loading earned value management and forensic schedule analysis.
- Familiarity with Lean Construction practices (Last Planner System Pull Planning).
- Strong computer skills specifically in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint).
Preferred:
- On-site mission-critical project experience with construction experience.
- Experience with Smartsheet Touch plan or other construction planning software.
- Knowledge of industry standards (AACE PMI).
- Familiarity with contractual requirements and claims processes.
- Ability to mentor junior schedulers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
