Position Summary
The Equipment Engineer III will support the development and optimization of a spare parts program to improve equipment uptime and reduce maintenance-related downtime. This role combines hands-on fieldwork with data-driven analysis to ensure critical parts are available and aligned with operational needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesStabilize Spare Parts (0 3 Months)
Identify critical assets based on downtime and operational impact
Develop initial spare parts lists for key equipment
Capture and link parts usage to asset records in CMMS
Conduct field inspections to verify parts and equipment
Reduce stockouts by prioritizing high-risk and long lead-time items
Optimize Spare Parts Data (3 9 Months)
Build and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for equipment (motors pumps gearboxes)
Identify long lead-time components and adjust stocking strategies
Standardize parts across similar equipment where possible
Validate spare parts data with maintenance teams
Identify obsolete or redundant parts
Sustain & Improve (9 24 Months)
Support implementation of a criticality-based stocking strategy
Participate in ongoing reviews of inventory accuracy and usage
Establish documentation standards for assets and spare parts
Improve alignment between maintenance needs and inventory levels
QualificationsRequired:
7 years of experience in:
Maintenance inventory or industrial operations
Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical spare parts
Experience with CMMS/EAM systems and work order processes
Strong organizational and analytical skills
Ability to work cross-functionally with maintenance and procurement teams
Preferred:
Experience building or maintaining equipment BOMs
Background in manufacturing utilities or heavy industry
Understanding of spare parts criticality and lead-time risk
Work Environment
100% onsite in Hickory NC
Combination of fieldwork and system/data analysis
Collaborative environment with maintenance and procurement teams
