Fully licensed clinicians are preferred; however candidates with associate-level licensure (e.g. LMSW LAPC AMFT) who are actively working toward independent licensure will also be considered.

We are seeking(1) Client Advocate/Social Worker III to join the already awesome team taking them to the next level of excellence!
The GSU Counseling Center seeks a compassionate and skilled Client Advocate (Social Worker III) to support students with complex mental health medical and psychosocial needs. This position plays a critical role in helping students navigate both campus and community resources to ensure continuity of care and support student success.
The Client Advocate provides case management brief supportive counseling and crisis stabilization for students requiring higher levels of care or coordinated support. This role involves collaborating closely with campus partners and community providers coordinating referrals and assisting students with transitions to appropriate treatment services when needed.
Through consultation outreach and coordinated care efforts the Client Advocate contributes to a comprehensive system of support that promotes student well-being safety and persistence at Georgia State University.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Case Management and Advocacy: Meet with students experiencing complex mental or physical health challenges to coordinate referrals to appropriate on-campus and community resources that support student success.
Crisis Support and Stabilization: Provide short-term counseling and crisis stabilization for students referred for more intensive services and assist in determining appropriate levels of care.
Emergency Response: Serve in rotation with Counseling Center leadership and crisis staff to provide after-hours on-call mental health coverage for the university community.
Care Transitions: Coordinate student transitions from university services to external providers such as psychiatric psychological or substance use treatment services. Partner with students and relevant parties to ensure continuity of care and adjust plans as some circumstances accompany students to treatment facilities or hospitals.
Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with faculty staff families and emergency contacts during crises when appropriate to support student safety and facilitate successful return to campus following treatment.
Resource Coordination: Maintain an updated database of community mental health and support resources available to students and serve as a referral coordinator for off-campus services.
Documentation: Maintain complete accurate and timely case notes and records within the Counseling Centers electronic documentation system.
Consultation and Outreach: Consult with campus partners regarding student care and access to services and develop workshops for faculty staff and students on mental health related topics.
Partnership Development: Build and maintain collaborative relationships with GSU campus agencies and community providers.
Specialty Program Coordination: Coordinate specialty services and support groups on campus for students who may benefit from targeted programs (e.g. recovery support groups).
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience supporting individuals with complex mental health medical or psychosocial needs.
Knowledge of community mental health systems and referral processes.
Ability to assess crisis situations and coordinate appropriate responses.
Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with students campus partners families and community providers.
Ability to maintain accurate documentation and case management records.
