Description
We are hiring for our client a key organisation within the energy sector who are seeking a SCADA Engineer to join their growing Operational Technology team in Belfast.
This SCADA Engineer role offers the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure supporting the safe and reliable operation of Northern Irelands electricity transmission system. The successful SCADA Engineer will play a vital role in maintaining and developing real-time systems that keep power flowing across the region while contributing to future-focused energy transformation projects.

The Role
Maintain configure and support SCADA and Energy Management Systems (EMS)
Ensure accuracy and availability of real-time operational data
Investigate faults alarms and system issues within a live environment
Support incident response and system recovery activities
Maintain databases models and system configurations
Assist with commissioning of substations generators and new assets
Apply updates patches and configuration changes in line with controls
Contribute to system upgrades and operational technology projects
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders including utilities and vendors
Maintain technical documentation system records and asset registers
Support cybersecurity compliance and regulatory standards
The Person
HNC / Level 4 qualification (or higher) in Engineering IT or similar
Experience working with SCADA EMS telemetry or operational technology systems
Understanding of communication protocols (IEC/104 DNP3 ICCP)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability in real-time systems
Ability to work collaboratively across technical teams
Full driving licence and willingness to travel across Northern Ireland
Flexibility to support out-of-hours and standby requirements
Desirable:
Experience within utilities or electricity transmission environments
Familiarity with platforms such as GE e-terra
Knowledge of operational telecoms and OT cybersecurity standards
