The English department believes that writing is thinking; thus teachers are constantly discussing how to foster and inform authentic student work. Reading selections reflect the value of classic literature and the importance of contemporary voices. Candidates must embrace these paramount values and ensure that students with wide-ranging abilities develop proficiency in critical thinking reading writing listening and speaking.
