The Position

Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world.

Are you ready to join a global network spanning 20 countries where bright minds collaborate to tackle real-world challenges in Innovation & Sustainability Do you want to work on impactful projects shape the future and drive change from within

As an intern you will contribute to a project focused on improving access to specialized care in rural Paraguay through a decentralized digital health ecosystem. The project aims to connect rural Primary Healthcare Units with specialized centers reduce time-to-diagnosis for oncology and create a more active digitally enabled referral model for underserved communities. Within your first 3 months you are expected to help identify patient leakage points in pilot regions develop a digital literacy and adoption plan design a remote referral service blueprint assess interoperability needs and contribute to a value-based business case and scalability roadmap. Your work will support Roches Access to Innovation priority by helping reduce geographic and systemic barriers to diagnosis while strengthening the long-term sustainability of the health system. This internship offers a unique opportunity to help shape a scalable model that can transform patient outcomes in underserved settings.

The Opportunity

  • Analyze the current rural patient journey to identify key leakage points and operational barriers in 23 pilot departments

  • Develop a digital literacy and adoption framework for rural Family Health Units targeting both clinical and administrative staff

  • Design a service blueprint for remote referrals from local clinics to specialist centers

  • Assess technical requirements and propose pathways for integrating tele-expertise tools with the national Health Information System

  • Build a value-based business case quantifying potential cost savings for the State and improved access outcomes

  • Support the development of a 12-month scalability roadmap for a potential public-private partnership model

  • Translate qualitative and quantitative field insights into structured reports strategic recommendations and presentation materials

  • Collaborate with healthcare and Roche stakeholders to support a practical and sustainable implementation approach

Who You Are

You are currently enrolled in a Bachelors Masters or MBA programpreferably in Biomedical Engineering Healthcare-focused Industrial Engineering Medicine Nursing Health Informatics Digital Health or Public Health Managementand are highly motivated to apply your academic knowledge in a modern work environment during a minimum 3-month internship.

Furthermore you are

  • Familiar with health informatics interoperability standards service design or digital health implementation

  • Comfortable with data analysis business intelligence and translating complex information into clear insights and recommendations

  • Interested in digital literacy change management and healthcare workflow improvement in resource-constrained settings

  • A structured and resilient problem solver with strong cultural empathy and the ability to work independently in complex environments

  • Fluent in Spanish and English
