Drafting CAD Technician I

Overview

We are seeking a Drafting / CAD Technician I to support engineering and drafting operations by creating updating and maintaining technical drawings and 3D models. This role focuses on assisting with documentation and modeling of custom equipment ensuring all drawings meet established standards and are properly managed within company systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for entry-level candidates or early-career professionals looking to gain hands-on experience in drafting and CAD within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Work Schedule & Environment

• Hybrid schedule available (remote and onsite work)
• Standard MondayFriday schedule with occasional overtime as needed
• Combination of office-based drafting work and plant floor interaction
• May require travel between nearby facilities

Key Responsibilities

• Create and update 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software
• Assist in preparing engineering drawing packages for release into document management systems
• Modify and correct drawings based on engineering markups and feedback
• Convert legacy drawings into updated digital models and formats
• Generate 2D drawings from existing 3D models
• Measure and document existing equipment to support accurate modeling
• Ensure all drawings comply with established drafting standards and guidelines

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certification in Drafting CAD Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field preferred
• Candidates without a degree must demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting

Required Skills

• Basic proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor AutoCAD or similar tools)
• Familiarity with drafting standards (ASME/ANSI)
• Ability to use basic measurement tools (tape measure calipers etc.)
• Strong computer skills in a Windows-based environment
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to follow established standards and adapt to company guidelines

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with 3D modeling and drawing management systems
• Exposure to manufacturing or industrial environments
