If you are currently in the 2025-2026 College Career & Technical Education (CCTE) Designated Subjects Teacher Pool (Secondary Level) you must submit a completed application to be considered for a position in the 2026-2027 school year.

POSITION SPECIFICS:

TheCollege Career & Technical Education (CCTE) Designated Subjects Teacher Pool (Secondary Level) is for assignments for the 2026-2027 school year.

The San Diego Unified School District accepts applications forthe College Career & Technical Education (CCTE) Designated SubjectsTeachers at the secondary level on a continuous basis for regular full-time and part-time Career & Technical Education (CCTE) Designated Subject Teacher Pool is for individuals who hold a designated subjects credential or who are eligible for a designated subjects credential and wish to teach a College Career & Technical Education course at a secondary school.

This is a continuous recruitment which will be used to establish an ongoing eligibility list.Candidates that do not wish to be considered for regular full-time/part-time positions should apply to the substitute teacher pool to be considered for temporary assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Credential Requirements

  • A valid teaching credential in a specific industry sector.
  • Candidates eligible for a designated subjects credential may be considered. Please reference the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website for details(click here to view).

Education

A Bachelors Degree with a major in the subject named on the credential.

Experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge interest and specialized experience in the field such as research and professional activities is desirable.
  • Three years of experience working with pupils at the secondary level is desired.

The examination process will consist of an application screening based on the candidates education work history and responses to the supplemental questions. Professional References will be contacted for candidates who are selected to proceed in the examination process. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Candidates selected to proceed in the examination process will be invited to an interview. Applicants who pass the examination process will be placed on an eligible list for a period of one school year. The eligible list will be used to fill vacancies at various school sites.
