Job Summary
The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country; its mission is to combat municipal corruption. DOI serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent and nonpartisan watchdog for New York City government City agencies and City employees vendors with City contracts
individuals and entities that receive City funds.
DOI is seeking a candidate that will assist the Inspector General and Director of the Vendor Integrity Unit to manage the operations of the unit which is comprised of a professional staff of analysts and investigators who engage in the performance of confidential and specialized investigations into allegations of corruption official misconduct fraud waste and inefficiency primarily involving vendors with City contracts. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting the IG and Director with managing investigative and compliance matters involving fraud waste and abuse related to DOIs Independent Private Sector Inspector General (IPSIG)/Integrity Monitor program.
Duties and responsibilities may include:
1. Reviewing integrity monitorship reports; reviewing and processing detailed invoices submitted by integrity monitors; and reviewing complaints received by the unit inputting complaint information into DOIs case management system and drafting dispositions or referrals as needed.
2. Drafting and editing reports and referrals regarding investigative findings from DOIs various monitorships.
3. Attending meetings with integrity monitors outside agencies and attorneys representing City vendors preparing notes or summaries of the meetings as needed and coordinating with supervisors to facilitate follow through on open items from any such meetings.
4. Performing data searches for various companies and individuals using various law enforcement and open-source databases including Accurint and PASSPort to conduct background vetting and reporting on such searches.
5. Assisting the Vendex Unit as needed in completing vendor name check (VNC) requests by utilizing the PASSPort database and conducting full research of all the subject firms principals and affiliates utilizing DOIs case management systems.
6. Assisting with other special projects investigations examinations reviews and policy development related to the Units Integrity Monitor Program as assigned by the Inspector General and/or Director of Vendor Integrity.
7. Providing training and guidance to staff on research reporting and compliance best practices.
If selected the candidate will be fingerprinted and undergo a background addition because the position has a law enforcement and/or investigative function the candidates consumer credit history will be reviewed during the background investigation as permitted by NYC Administrative Code 8-107(24)(b)(2)(A).

Qualifications :
1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in an industrial or governmental agency in the field of investigation auditing law enforcement security inspections or in a major operational area of the agency in which the appointment is to be made; or
2.A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; or
3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above.
