Job Summary
Amazon RIVR is a robotics company pioneering Physical AI through real-world doorstep delivery. Founded in 2024 as an ETH Zurich spin-off RIVR developed wheeled-legged robots designed to operate in complex unstructured environments such as stairs gates doors and uneven urban terrain. We believe that achieving general physical intelligence requires solving real customer problems in the real world where robots can learn from rich operational data at scale.
Following our acquisition by Amazon in March 2026 we are continuing this mission with greater reach and speed. By combining custom robot hardware onboard autonomy and cloud-based coordination Amazon RIVR is building the next generation of safe reliable autonomous robots for last-mile delivery.

This restriction does not apply to ETHZ and EPFL students who are required to complete compulsory internships as part of their studies.As a Robotics Platform Software Intern you will assist the software engineering team in developing and implementing software solutions for robotic systems that fall outside the algorithmic components but are vital to orchestrate the end-to-end functionality of the system. This can encompass everything from low-level control to robot-to-cloud communication. This position provides an immersive environment to own software integration as well as the development and troubleshooting of new features. You will get hands-on with our robots solving complex challenges to ensure they run reliably and deliver real-world results. What youll be doing
- Support the team in programming debugging and testing software components for robotic applications.
- Improve our software stack and implement new features across the robot platform domain contributing to our in-the-market product
- Understand and work with system-level configuration perform rapid prototyping of software-hardware interfaces and optimize system stability.
- Aid in documenting code testing procedures and results for future reference.
- Work closely with senior engineers to integrate software with hardware components and contribute ideas to enhance system performance.
- Engage in continuous learning gaining exposure to robotics frameworks libraries and industry best practices.
What you must have
- At least BSc in Robotics Engineering Computer Science or equivalent.
- Working knowledge in C.
- Experience in ROS2 or other distributed real-time middleware.
- Academic or project-based experience building applications for Linux-based platforms.
- Basic understanding of algorithms data structures and software development principles.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Get some bonus points
- Hands-on experience with robotics or embedded systems.
- Experience deploying/testing/debugging code on a hardware platform.
- Knowledge of robotics simulation environments.
- Experience troubleshooting Linux system configuration and networking setups.
