Tool Room Machinist

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Interpret engineering drawings sketches and sample parts to understand specifications tolerances and critical features.
• Develop and optimize machining processes for new and existing parts.
• Provide feedback on part and tooling design to improve manufacturability and efficiency.
• Machine components from prints sketches or verbal instructions to precise specifications.
• Apply strong understanding of datums and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Set up and operate a variety of equipment including CNC mills (Hurco) CNC lathes (Haas) manual mills lathes grinders and related support equipment.
• Program CNC machines using Mastercam or conversational programming at the machine.
• Select appropriate tooling feeds and speeds to ensure optimal performance and tool life.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to maintain quality and productivity.
• Train and support operators by providing clear instructions on setups tooling offsets and inspection requirements.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance including fluid checks and basic upkeep.
• Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment in accordance with company standards.
• Properly use and care for all company tools equipment and measuring instruments.
• Utilize precision measuring tools (micrometers calipers indicators etc.) to verify part quality.
• Apply shop math skills including decimal and fraction conversions geometry and trigonometry as needed.
• Communicate effectively with team members engineers and leadership.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience setting up and operating CNC and manual machining equipment in a toolroom or similar environment.
• Strong working knowledge of GD&T and blueprint reading.
• Experience with conversational CNC programming (e.g. Hurco) preferred.
• Proven ability to hold tight tolerances and produce precision components.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.

Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety footwear and eye protection
