Responsible for provision and administration of specific physical therapy & occupational therapy treatments only under the direct supervision of the staff Physical Therapist & Occupational Therapist. The Rehab Aide as directed and supervised by the staff Physical Therapist Occupational Therapist & Occupational Therapy Assistant (when an aide is performing a non-resident tasks such as clerical secretarial and administrative activities transportation of patients/clients preparation or maintenance of treatment equipment and work area etc.) assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The Rehab Aide participates in operational aspects of the department maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. Performs clerical duties and participates in all infection control departmental equipment training organizational safety and fire safety programs.

o Ability to monitor vital signs maintains adequate knowledge base regarding cardiovascular and respiratory precautions for the patient undergoing physical medicine services and treatments.
o Maintains patient medical record forms evaluations educational handout distribution material and assists in record keeping of patient files.
o Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
o Prepares and cleans treatment area for patient use at all times.
o Communicates any changes in condition (physical or mental) to staff Physical Therapist & Occupational Therapist nursing and other facility personnel as appropriate. Notifies appropriate licensed personnel when patient complains of pain. Ability to recognize and react quickly to changes in patients condition. Demonstrates awareness of emergency situations and performs duties appropriately.
o Orders stocks and maintains accurate records of adaptive equipment.
o Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial cultural ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
o Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety. Transports patients from and to the therapy gym maintains compliance with safety policies during transport at all times. Participates in infection control departmental equipment training and organizational safety and fire safety programs.
o Participates in educational staff performance improvement in-services.
o Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
