Job Summary

TheAdvanced Light MicroscopyFacilityat EMBLHeidelberg(ALMF)offersa collection of state of the art equipment and image processing tools to support in-house scientists and visitors in using light service in correlative light and electron microscopy spatial omics and high throughput chemical screens. The facility also closely collaborates with the EMBL Imaging Centre providing outward facing services in advanced cross scales imaging.

Your role

scientific officer in theAdvanced Light Microscopy Facility(ALMF) at EMBL.

You will teachand supportusers inadvancedlight aspectsof assaydevelopment withrespecttoautomatedimageacquisitionimagedataanalysisandlarge-scaledatamanagement.

You will also write custom software packages that allow users to conduct experiments at large scale automaticallyandifnecessarydevelopcustomhardwareincollaborationwiththeEMBLworkshopsand industrial partners.

Youwill alsoparticipateinthetestingandestablishingof cutting-edgemicroscopytechnologyequipment in collaboration with the industrial partners of the facility. You will participate in the organization and teaching of international courses on advanced microscopy techniques.

You have

  • AuniversitydegreeineitherlifesciencesphysicsorengineeringpreferablywithaPhD.
  • Solidexperienceinseveraladvancedlightmicroscopytechniquesisessential.
  • Practicalknowledgeinautomationofimageacquisitionimageanalysisanddatahandling.
  • Youshouldbeateamplayerandhavegoodcommunicationandorganisationalskills.
  • FluencyinEnglishiscompulsory.

  • biologicalsamplepreparationandtheirapplicationtobiologicalquestions;

Contract length: 3 years (renewable)

Salary: Grade 6 (monthly salary starting from 4.58037 EUR after tax excluding EMBL social security contributions of 13% plus financial allowances based on personal circumstances).
