Description:

As a Financial Lines Underwriter based in our Barcelona office you will be employed by our legal entity Tokio Marine Europe S.A. Sucursal en España that trades under the Tokio Marine HCC name. As such you will form part of a dynamic team of professionals that focus on developing our regional portfolios. You will directly report to the Financial Lines Manager and carry out selection analysis and pricing of new and renewal policies as well as negotiate the insurance terms and conditions with brokers and insureds in order to issue the final contractual documentation. You will be key in helping build profitable relationships with brokers and insureds and your role will fully support and comply with the companys objectives and standards.

Responsibilities:

• Analyse data relating to large accounts: study financial regional/national economic trends and industry conditions in the assigned underwriting discipline
• Within the granted underwriting authority follow internal Underwriting guidelines and elaborate clear recommendations as to terms and conditions and pricing for the Financial Lines Manager or to a Referral Committee
• Negotiate with brokers to secure business
• Draft contract clauses in collaboration with Product Development team; issuance of quotes and policy documents
• Cultivate established broker relationships; represent the company at off-site conferences trade shows seminars and meetings
• Keep files completed on time and ready for internal audits
• Manage and grow the assigned book of business
• Participate in special projects

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Business Finance Law Economics or a related field; or equivalent professional experience
• 2 - 5 years proven underwriting experience in Financial Lines insurance or relevant experience in insurance or financial analysis
• Native French and fluent English (high level) a must other languages nice to have.
• Native/extensive knowledge on French culture
• Ability to interpret financial statements operational information and risk indicators for both commercial and financial institutions to make sound risk-based underwriting decisions.
• Knowledge of Financial Lines insurance products and wordings; good understanding of relevant insurance market conditions and legal environment
• Strong macro/micro economic knowledge; awareness of trends in different industry segments
• Possess a relevant network of contacts in domestic markets
• Commercial acumen
