Job Summary

The Opportunity Telford is a hub for innovation and home to a growing digital sector making it an ideal environment for a Computer Science specialist. We are seeking a teacher who can inspire students to move beyond being passive consumers of technology and become its creators. This role involves delivering high-quality computing education across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 with a focus on programming computational thinking and the ethical implications of the digital world.


The Department

  • You will work in a department equipped with high-specification computer suites running a range of industry-standard software and IDEs.

  • The faculty benefits from a collaborative resource-sharing system allowing teachers to utilize pre-built coding challenges and interactive theory lessons.

  • We have a dedicated IT support team to ensure hardware and networking infrastructure remain reliable for every lesson.

  • Our school actively participates in regional coding competitions cybersecurity challenges and STEM workshops with local engineering firms.


Core Responsibilities

  1. Designing and delivering lessons that cover the core pillars of Computer Science: algorithms data representation and computer systems.

  2. Teaching programming languages (such as Python) from foundational syntax to complex problem-solving.

  3. Preparing students for GCSE Computer Science examinations through rigorous focus on both the practical programming project and theoretical papers.

  4. Implementing effective strategies to engage students with abstract concepts like Boolean logic and binary arithmetic.

  5. Promoting online safety and a critical understanding of the social and ethical impacts of emerging technologies like AI.


The Successful Candidate We are looking for a tech-savvy educator who is passionate about future-proofing our students skills. Requirements include:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Computer Science ICT or a related technical field.

  • Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language and the ability to troubleshoot student code efficiently.

  • A strong understanding of the current National Curriculum and GCSE specifications.

  • The ability to make complex technical concepts accessible to students with varying levels of prior experience.
