The Opportunity Rochdale has a deep-rooted musical history from its famous brass band heritage to its vibrant contemporary scene. We are looking for a Music Teacher who can nurture this local passion and inspire students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This role involves balancing the traditional elements of music theory and performance with modern composition and technology ensuring that every student finds their creative voice within our diverse curriculum.

The Department

• You will have access to a suite of soundproofed practice rooms a dedicated recording studio and a performance hall with excellent acoustics.

• The department is equipped with a variety of instruments and high-spec workstations running industry-standard software like Logic Pro and Sibelius.

Core Responsibilities

1. Delivering engaging lessons that integrate performing composing and listening across a wide range of genres and cultures.

2. Directing and conducting various ensemble groups preparing them for high-profile school concerts and community events.

3. Teaching the technical aspects of music technology enabling students to record and produce their own original compositions.

4. Preparing students for GCSE Music and vocational equivalents focusing on rigorous preparation for both performance and appraising exams.

5. Managing a varied timetable of peripatetic staff to ensure a seamless integration of individual instrumental lessons into the school day.

The Successful Candidate We are seeking a versatile musician and educator who is equally comfortable behind a conductors baton or a digital mixing desk. Requirements include:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Music or Music Performance.

• Proficiency in at least one instrument (or voice) and the ability to model high-level performance skills to students.

• A strong understanding of various music specifications and a commitment to raising academic standards through creative engagement.

• The energy and organizational skills required to lead a thriving extracurricular program.
