This role involves delivering a broad and balanced curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 encouraging participation for all while pushing our elite students to reach their full potential in competitive environments.
The Department
You will have access to excellent facilities including a large multi-use sports hall all-weather pitches and modern fitness suites.
The department operates a collaborative team-teaching approach for certain modules allowing staff to share expertise in specific sports such as rugby netball or athletics.
We utilize digital tracking tools to monitor student progress in both practical performance and theoretical understanding.
Our school is a central figure in the local sports partnership regularly hosting and competing in borough-wide tournaments and regional leagues.
Core Responsibilities
Planning and delivering high-quality practical lessons across a variety of sports focusing on skill development tactics and teamwork.
Teaching the theoretical components of the PE curriculum including anatomy physiology and the social-cultural influences on sport.
Preparing Key Stage 4 students for GCSE PE or BTEC Sport qualifications through rigorous assessment and exam-technique coaching.
Organizing and leading an extensive extracurricular program including lunchtime clubs after-school practices and inter-school fixtures.
Championing inclusive PE by adapting lessons to ensure students of all abilities and backgrounds can participate and succeed.
The Successful Candidate We are looking for an inspiring role model who lives and breathes sport. Requirements include:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Physical Education Sports Science or a related field.
Proven ability to coach multiple sports to a high standard and manage large groups in an outdoor or gym setting safely.
A strong understanding of the current GCSE and vocational sport specifications.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students to encourage a lifelong love of physical activity.
