Project Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Privacy & Security Specialist to support key health ministry initiatives in Alberta. This role will focus on ensuring compliance with health information legislation managing privacy risks and supporting the implementation of secure eHealth technologies across multiple programs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide privacy and security support across health ministry initiatives ensuring compliance with legislation and policies
Lead and support Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Threat Risk Assessments (TRAs)
Collaborate with stakeholders to implement privacy and security processes for eHealth technologies
Assess and mitigate privacy and security risks across multiple projects and releases
Develop privacy and security documentation guidance materials and training content
Support governance activities including participation in meetings and reporting
Coordinate privacy and security activities across multiple workstreams
Ensure compliance with Health Information Act (HIA) and related policies
Provide advisory support to program teams on privacy security and compliance matters
Contribute to Responsible AI initiatives by developing privacy and security guidance
Must-Have Qualifications
10 years of experience conducting and interpreting risk and impact assessments (PIA TRA)
5 years of experience in business writing communication and documentation
At least 1 year of experience working with AI technologies (e.g. machine learning NLP)
Strong knowledge of privacy and security principles preferably within healthcare
Nice to Have
Extensive experience with Alberta health information legislation and policies
Experience coordinating privacy security and information management initiatives
Experience developing training materials and training plans
Experience in change management
Experience developing policies related to information management and security
Hands-on experience implementing data security and privacy controls
Experience with Responsible AI principles
Additional Information
Work must be performed within Canada
Occasional travel to Edmonton may be required (costs not covered)
Government-issued equipment will be provided
Mandatory training required upon onboarding (privacy security information management workplace policies)
