Role Overview
The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly experienced Senior Business Consultant to provide expertise in privacy security and information management within healthcare and eHealth initiatives.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with Albertas health information legislation supporting privacy and security processes and enabling the successful implementation of digital health technologies and transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and facilitate impact and risk assessments across multiple projects and initiatives
- Provide privacy and security advisory support for eHealth and health program implementations
- Lead and support development of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) Security Threat Risk Assessments (STRA) and Business Impact Assessments (BIA)
- Ensure compliance with Health Information Act (HIA) and other privacy regulations
- Develop and maintain privacy security and information management documentation
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to align solutions with policy and governance frameworks
- Support implementation of Responsible AI practices including risk identification and mitigation
- Develop training materials and training plans related to privacy and security
- Deliver training sessions and knowledge transfer to internal teams
- Coordinate across multiple initiatives to ensure consistent privacy and security practices
- Provide ongoing monitoring reporting and status updates to leadership and stakeholders
- Support development of policies standards and best practices related to information management
Must-Have Requirements
Work Experience:
- 10 years experience conducting and facilitating impact and risk assessments
- 5 years experience in business writing communication and documentation
- 1 year experience working with AI technologies (Machine Learning NLP etc.)
Nice-to-Have Skills
- 10 years experience with Alberta Health Information Act (HIA) and related legislation
- Experience developing PIA STRA and BIA artifacts
- Experience coordinating privacy security and compliance activities within IT projects
- 5 years experience in change management
- Experience developing training materials and training plans
- Strong knowledge of ATIA / FOIP / POPA regulations
- Experience developing information management policies standards and practices
- Hands-on experience with data security controls anonymization and audits
- Experience applying Responsible AI principles (fairness bias detection explainability)
