Job Summary

Job Title: Senior Business Consultant

Role Overview
The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly experienced Senior Business Consultant to provide expertise in privacy security and information management within healthcare and eHealth initiatives.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with Albertas health information legislation supporting privacy and security processes and enabling the successful implementation of digital health technologies and transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and facilitate impact and risk assessments across multiple projects and initiatives
  • Provide privacy and security advisory support for eHealth and health program implementations
  • Lead and support development of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) Security Threat Risk Assessments (STRA) and Business Impact Assessments (BIA)
  • Ensure compliance with Health Information Act (HIA) and other privacy regulations
  • Develop and maintain privacy security and information management documentation
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to align solutions with policy and governance frameworks
  • Support implementation of Responsible AI practices including risk identification and mitigation
  • Develop training materials and training plans related to privacy and security
  • Deliver training sessions and knowledge transfer to internal teams
  • Coordinate across multiple initiatives to ensure consistent privacy and security practices
  • Provide ongoing monitoring reporting and status updates to leadership and stakeholders
  • Support development of policies standards and best practices related to information management

Must-Have Requirements
Work Experience:
  • 10 years experience conducting and facilitating impact and risk assessments
  • 5 years experience in business writing communication and documentation
  • 1 year experience working with AI technologies (Machine Learning NLP etc.)

Nice-to-Have Skills
  • 10 years experience with Alberta Health Information Act (HIA) and related legislation
  • Experience developing PIA STRA and BIA artifacts
  • Experience coordinating privacy security and compliance activities within IT projects
  • 5 years experience in change management
  • Experience developing training materials and training plans
  • Strong knowledge of ATIA / FOIP / POPA regulations
  • Experience developing information management policies standards and practices
  • Hands-on experience with data security controls anonymization and audits
  • Experience applying Responsible AI principles (fairness bias detection explainability)
