Rate of Pay: 14.84 - 18.94 per hour
Summary:
As an Energy Officer you will support the Energy Manager in the day-to-day management of utility contracts and sustainability initiatives. Your primary focus will be ensuring billing accuracy maintaining high-quality energy data and supporting the delivery of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. The role involves both office-based analytical work and site visits across West Northamptonshire to conduct surveys and read meters.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure utility bills are paid on time to avoid late charges and recharge third parties for consumption within Council assets.
- Coordinate the rollout of Smart Meters and ensure all assets have valid Display Energy Certificates (DEC) and Recommendation Reports to meet statutory requirements.
- Analyze energy consumption and carbon emission data to support national indicator reporting and informed decision-making.
- Assist in preparing business cases procurement documents and funding bids for carbon reduction and energy efficiency programmes.
- Use Office 365 and internal IT systems to manage information securely and maximize personal productivity
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate level qualification (or equivalent professional qualification) in energy management engineering environmental management or a related field is essential.
- A certification in energy management systems (e.g. ISO50001) is desirable.
Essentials:
- Proven experience in managing energy accounts
- Clear knowledge of energy management and efficiency programmes specifically within public buildings
- Up-to-date understanding of the national carbon management agenda and Climate Emergency reporting
