Job Summary

The Trades Helperposition will require the candidate the ability to lift up to 55 pounds and to drive trucks/vans assisting with the daily activities of the Furniture Repair Department. Class E drivers license and at least 5 years of driving experience are required.The Furniture Repair Department will request you to obtain a copy of your 20 Years driving records. Must pass the HCPS Safety Department Safe Drivers Program. Helper Trades is a non-OTETA (Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act) position.

The position is located at Furniture Repair Operations 4805 E. Martin Luther King Blvd. Tampa FL 33605. Work Schedule 6:30am to 3:00pm -PG16 current starting salary $15.45 p/h.

Summary:

The Trades Helper will perform semi-skilled and/or trade-level work assisting experienced journeymen level employees in various skilled trades or general maintenance/construction work.

Responsibilities:
Assists with complex repairs and finish work; performs routine repairs and finish work or related work.

Cleans tools and work areas hauls materials necessary supplies and performs other related functions to assist higher-level employees.

Assists electricians in installing and repairing electrical wiring fixtures and related equipment.

Assists painters in mixing and matching paints and stains painting faucets sinks and other plumbing facilities.

Assists plumbers with installs maintenance and repair of pipes valves faucets sinks and other plumbing facilities.

Assists masons to lay bricks cement block and sidewalks.

Assists carpenters with repair of chairs tables fences doors windows floors fixtures and other articles.

Assists maintenance mechanics in the repair and maintenance of buildings refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

Assists equipment mechanics in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and/or diesel-operated vehicles or other related mechanical components.

Assists with construction maintenance and repair of roads bridges ditches fences culverts and associated structures.

Assists with the various engineering duties set up flags and barricades and generally participates in the laboring work of the crew.

Performs routing duties involving the repair and maintenance of tools and equipment.

Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience: Six (6) months of increasingly responsible experience in building mechanical equipment maintenance general construction maintenance repair work equipment operation or landscaping.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Possession of a valid Florida Phase I Class B Commercial drivers license with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsement required. Phase II Class B drivers license must be obtained within 90 days of hire date. Must have acceptable driving record (based on districts Safe Driving Plan).

Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals

Mathematical Skills: Adds and subtracts two digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s. Performs these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability: Applies understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Deals with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Must possess basic computer skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical Activities: Walking standing climbing stooping bending crawling handling talking and hearing.

Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds.

Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.

Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity: 3 moderate; exposure to electrical shock proximity to moving mechanical parts and working in high exposed places.
