Job Summary

Title: In-School Suspention Aidefor the2026-2027 School Year

Schedule: 7 hours per day/172 days per year

Reports to:Building Principal

Purpose and Objectives of the Position: The In-School Suspension (ISS) Aide is responsible for supervising and managing the ISS program to maintain a structured safe and productive learning addition this position supports building operations by covering open substitute assignments filling critical paraprofessional needs and performing other duties as assigned by administration.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains regular attendance.
  • Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
  • Supervise and manage the ISS room to maintain a structured safe and productive learning environment.
  • Enforce student expectations and maintain appropriate behavior at all times.
  • Monitor students continuously; students must remain in ISS under supervision.
  • Distribute collect and return student assignments; ensure students are working and completing assigned tasks.
  • Provide basic academic support and follow teacher-provided plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance behavior and assignment completion.
  • Communicate and coordinate with staff to obtain and return student work without disrupting instruction.
  • Keep the ISS room clean organized and ready for student use.
  • Admit only students assigned by administration and follow all ISS procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Respond appropriately to student behavior including following CPI procedures when necessary.
  • Cover open substitute teaching assignments and fill critical paraprofessional needs as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by administration to support building operations.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

  • Must work in a noisy and crowded environment with numerous interruptions.
  • Requires stooping bending kneeling reaching and turning.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ability to assist in the instruction and supervision of students.
  • Ability to assist students with remedial work.
  • Ability to tutor students as directed.
  • Ability to assist with small group instruction.
  • Ability to monitor student progress.
  • Ability to grade papers and assist with record keeping and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to prepare instructional materials and supplies for use.
  • Ability to attend staff meetings and general staff meetings.
  • Ability to assist in the maintenance and inventory of materials.
  • Ability to work effectively with students teachers parents community agencies and other groups.
  • Ability to implement and follow all school district policies during all activities.
  • Ability to keep current on new information innovative ideas and techniques.
  • Ability to respond to information requests in a cooperative courteous and timely manner.
  • Ability to perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the teacher Principal or other administrative staff.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to use computer printer copier credit card machine laminator and fax machine.
  • Ability to observe and follow all school district policies at all times.
  • Ability to react to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positivemanner meeting deadlines as assigned.
  • Ability to implement and follow all district health and safety policies including allprecautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
  • Must complete annual training required by district.
  • Must verify good health by passing a physical examination that includes TB and drugtest as required.
  • Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.
  • Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.

Terms of Employment:At Will. (See annual appendix). Salary to be established by the Board.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the USD 450 Board of Educations policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel and this job description.
