Position: Contract Summer Student: Direct Support Professional
Contract: May 4 2026 August 31
Hours: 40 hours per week including days afternoons weekends or nights
Rate of pay: $23.59 per hour
Locations we provide supports in: Alvinston Brigden Corunna Forest Petrolia Sarnia Oil City Oil Springs Watford and Wyoming.
What we are hiring for:
We are currently hiring a Contract Summer Student Direct Support Professional for our support locations across Lambton County Ontario. Direct Support Professionals make a difference in peoples lives by:
- Providing support to people with developmental disabilities in their homes and the community
- Teaching and assisting with daily supports (ex. assistance with meal preparation personal hygiene medication administration appointments housekeeping responsibilities and money management)
- Facilitating opportunities for individual skill development independence personal growth cultivating relationships in their community and leisure activities as directed by the person
What you will need:
- Valid G or G2 class license and reliable vehicle
- Be willing to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Current certification in First Aid/CPR required
- Current certification in NVCPI or willing to obtain
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is an asset
- Be comfortable with providing personal care and attending to medical needs of individuals
Requirements of the Canada Summer Jobs Program for this position:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
- Be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
