KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Manager Sustainability and Solid Waste the Waste Management Planner contributes to the planning development implementation and monitoring of various municipal solid waste related projects in accordance with City direction. This includes but is not limited to the implementation and updating of the Strategic Waste Management Plan (SWMP) as well as projects related to waste diversion programs (reusable material recovery organics division etc.)

QUALIFICATIONS:

A university degree in environmental sciences engineering business or a related field is required along with a minimum of 3 years related experience in environmental project management climate change or solid waste environments. A valid class 5 drivers license is required.

Proficiency in MS Office suite is required along with strong communication skills in order to facilitate discussions amongst diverse work groups. Strong time management and organizational skills are also required as the incumbent must possess the ability to manage multiple projects and demands effectively while remaining focused on priority tasks.

This position may be required to work irregular hours including evenings weekends and holidays.

SALARY:

The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $106177 per annum as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a housing and vacation travel allowance totaling $450 per month a defined benefit pension plan and relocation assistance.
