Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools (GCCS) serves more than 1600 students from PreK12 and is a free open-enrollment public charter school system located in Kansas City Missouri. Over 97% of our students identify as Latinx and many are bilingual or English learners. Our network includes Guadalupe Centers Elementary School Guadalupe Centers Middle School and Guadalupe Centers High School.
GCCS grew out of Guadalupe Centers educational programs part of the longest continuously operating agency serving the Latinx community in the United States since 1919. Reports To:Building Principal
Position Summary
The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for delivering a comprehensive standards-based physical education program that promotes lifelong fitness health and wellness. This role engages students in a variety of physical activities including individual and team sports while teaching proper techniques safety and sportsmanship. The teacher also fosters social-emotional development through collaboration teamwork and positive interactions among students.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create and maintain a safe inclusive and engaging learning environment that promotes student participation and well-being.
Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in physical education including fitness movement health concepts rhythms/dance and individual and team sports.
Demonstrate and teach proper techniques rules and strategies to ensure safe and effective participation in physical activities.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students including individualized and small group support when appropriate.
Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior to ensure a structured and productive environment.
Assess student progress and provide feedback on physical social and skill development.
Collaborate with colleagues staff and families to support student success including participation in IEP and 504 meetings as needed.
Supervise students during physical activities and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Participate in professional development and ongoing learning opportunities.
Maintain accurate records and fulfill all professional responsibilities promptly.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
Bachelors Degree in Physical Education Elementary Education Secondary Education or a related field.
Valid Missouri teaching certification in Physical Education (K12 preferred).
Experience in an urban school setting preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Meets Missouri Highly Qualified requirements.
Physical Requirements
Ability to actively participate in and demonstrate physical activities including sports and fitness exercises.
Ability to stand walk and remain active for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
Ability to supervise and engage students in indoor and outdoor environments.
