Communications Officer (English Services) (On-Site)

Your Role:

CBC British Columbia is looking for a Communications Officer Building Development for a one-year contract starting in April 2026 to join the local Communications and Marketing team. This specialized role focuses on executing internal and external communications for significant building preservation and sustainability initiatives such as building envelope replacement and green energy transitions while supporting general marketing and communications.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can quickly become an integral part of our operations acting as the primary point person for staff and stakeholder concerns during construction-related disruptions. Reporting to the regional Senior Manager Marketing and Communications this position requires someone with a flair for engaging with people expert in order and organization and a passion for maintaining brand integrity in a dynamic environment. This position is full time on-site in Vancouver with travel to regional bureaus as required.

Duties for this position may include:

Building Development & Internal Liaison (Primary Focus)

  • Initiating and managing internal staff communications regarding service disruptions relocations and project updates.

  • Monitoring dedicated project email accounts and social media for feedback and media coverage.

  • Serving as the point person for questions and concerns including updating project FAQs.

  • Physically touring local on-site departments weekly to engage staff understand concerns and provide real-time updates.

  • Liaising with Real Estate Project Management maintenance teams and other CBC and community stakeholders to ensure project alignment.

  • Coordinating with printers and graphics teams for project-related signage and materials.

  • Supporting operations and building teams when required attending necessary meetings and distributing minutes.

Communications & Marketing Support

  • Researching writing and editing communications materials which may include staff newsletters news releases program listings and content for with integrated marketing plans and/or brand activations to promote CBC programming across social digital radio and TV.

  • Executing fan engagement and outreach initiatives brand activations and contesting to foster ongoing relationships with audiences.

  • Creating and posting creative social media content which may require basic photography and design skills.

  • Working with Audience Relations to develop official responses to audience inquiries and controversial issues.

  • Researching information for special projects and administrative matters such as stakeholder lists coordinating newsroom tours and procurement of branding materials.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Three (3) years relevant experience demonstrating superior writing editing and proofreading skills and a working knowledge of internal and external communications and marketing materials.

  • Post-secondary certificate diploma or degree in Communications Public Relations Marketing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent working knowledge of Google Suite tools (Docs Drive Sheets Slides Calendar Meet).

  • Strong desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture.

  • Active and highly skilled on multiple digital and social media platforms.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines.

  • Demonstrated customer service and problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to take initiative demonstrate creativity and exercise sound judgment in line with CBC journalistic policies.

  • Flexibility in work hours as operations demand including evenings weekends and holidays.

  • Willingness to travel when required.

  • Prior experience in project management is an advantage but not required.

  • Knowledge of languages such as Mandarin Tagalog Arabic Hindi Punjabi Spanish or Indigenous languages is considered an asset.
