Job Summary

Amazon Global Realty seeks a dynamic Head of Energy for the EMEA portfolio to spearhead power infrastructure strategy across its rapidly expanding logistics network in Europe Middle East and Africa. This strategic role will shape how Amazon secures manages and optimizes energy solutions throughout EMEA.

The Head of Energy will develop comprehensive power strategies that balance reliability sustainability and cost-effectiveness across diverse regulatory environments. The role encompasses leading complex utility negotiations overseeing large-scale infrastructure projects and building strategic partnerships with energy providers developers and equipment manufacturers. This position is crucial in driving innovative solutions for power delivery from grid capacity planning to renewable energy integration across multiple markets with varying energy landscapes.

The ideal candidate brings deep European energy sector experience and a proven track record of delivering complex power infrastructure projects across multiple jurisdictions. Success in this role requires navigating diverse regulatory frameworks managing high-stakes initiatives in dynamic environments while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure ambitious growth targets are met with reliable sustainable power solutions.

Key job responsibilities
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive utilities strategy for Amazon Logistics network across EMEA regions Work collaboratively with internal teams and external organizations to support strategic site selection and development across diverse EMEA markets Develop partnerships with utility providers developers landlords and OEMs to secure grid capacity drive cost efficiencies and establish Amazon as a strategic energy partner in key EMEA markets Manage a portfolio of complex energy projects across multiple countries with varying regulatory frameworks Collaborate with internal teams and regulated utilities on the implementation and management of energy projects to meet business timelines across EMEA Identify and develop innovative cost savings projects (capital and operational) and initiatives related to energy infrastructure and supply Work with communities and regulators across EMEA to develop policies and guidelines that enable broader Amazon strategies and objectives Navigate diverse energy market structures including liberalized markets regulated monopolies and transitioning frameworks across the region

About the team
Lead the development of innovative energy strategies drive key partnerships with utility providers and shape the future of Amazons power infrastructure across EMEA. Youll orchestrate complex energy projects spanning multiple regulatory environments influence strategic decisions across regions and transform how we approach power delivery for our logistics network. Your expertise will be crucial in building sustainable reliable and cost-effective energy solutions that support Amazons ambitious growth across Europe Middle East and Africa.

- Bachelors degree in Engineering or Business Administration or a related field
- Experience managing medium to large-scale projects
- Experience in program or project management
- 7 years working in utility/energy industry in a commercial/business development or technical role within European markets
- 5 years of power transaction or contracting experience in European energy markets (e.g. experience with EU ETS national capacity markets or regional power exchanges) performing financial models and analysis on rates and energy cost negotiating interconnection agreements and related contracts with utilities and contractors
- Experience navigating multiple European regulatory frameworks and energy market structures

- Masters degree or above in business economics engineering analytics mathematics statistics information technology or equivalent
- 10 years of experience in energy infrastructure utilities grid-interconnection strategy power system planning energy markets or distributed energy projects across multiple EMEA countries ideally within a complex multi-region portfolio
- Experience evaluating and implementing innovative infrastructure and operational strategies within the European energy sector such as energy storage demand response renewables integration and grid flexibility solutions
- Experience working directly with European energy regulators national regulatory authorities (NRAs) and understanding of EU energy directives and frameworks
- Fluency in multiple European languages
- Experience with European renewable energy frameworks including PPAs GOs (Guarantees of Origin) and renewable energy procurement strategies
