1. **Transportation**: Transporting parts and materials between locations. This can include picking up parts from suppliers delivering parts to technicians and moving items within the facility.
2. **Inventory Management**: Assisting with inventory control by checking stock levels verifying deliveries and ensuring that parts are correctly logged in inventory systems.
3. **Communication**: Coordinating with various departments to understand their needs and ensure timely delivery of parts. This involves effective communication with suppliers technicians and management.
4. **Documentation**: Maintaining accurate records of all transactions deliveries and receipts. This includes processing paperwork and updating databases.
5. **Vehicle Maintenance**: Ensuring that the delivery vehicle is in good working condition scheduling regular maintenance and reporting any issues to management.
6. **Problem Solving**: Addressing any issues that arise during deliveries such as incorrect parts delays or logistical challenges and finding solutions to keep operations running smoothly.
7. **Customer Service**: Providing excellent service to internal and external customers ensuring that their parts needs are met promptly and accurately.
A lot porter often employed in automotive dealerships or rental car companies plays a vital role in maintaining the orderliness and appearance of vehicle lots. Here are the primary responsibilities of a lot porter:
8. **Vehicle Movement**: Moving vehicles within the lot to designated areas. This includes arranging vehicles to maximize space and ensure easy access for customers and staff.

13. **Support for Sales Parts and Service Staff**: Helping sales and service departments by preparing vehicles for test drives transferring vehicles between locations and ensuring vehicles are ready for customer delivery.
15. **Administrative Tasks**: Completing paperwork and maintaining records related to vehicle movements detailing and inventory.
A parts runner needs to have a valid drivers license a good driving record basic knowledge of automotive or machinery parts and good organizational and time-management skills. Physical stamina is also important as the job often requires lifting and moving heavy parts.
