Para Educator

Nodaway Valley Community School District is seeking a dynamic student-centered educatorto join our teamimmediately. We are currently accepting applications for a High SchoolSpecial Education Paraeducator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Instructional Support

• Assist the teacher with delivering lessons and reinforcing concepts
• Work with small groups or individual students for targeted support
• Help adapt materials to meet diverse learning needs

2. Student Support

• Provide one-on-one assistance for students with academic behavioral or physical needs
• Support students with disabilities in accessing the curriculum
• Encourage independence confidence and engagement

3. Classroom Management

• Help maintain a positive structured learning environment
• Monitor student behavior and reinforce expectations
• Assist with transitions routines and organization

4. Behavioral and Social Support

• Implement behavior intervention plans under teacher direction
• Model appropriate social skills and interactions
• Help de-escalate challenging situations when needed

5. Clerical and Organizational Tasks

• Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
• Assist with data collection and record-keeping
• Supervise students during non-instructional times

6. Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with teachers special education staff and related service providers
• Share observations about student progress and needs
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism

7. Personal Care (when applicable)

• Assist students with mobility hygiene feeding or medical needs as required.
