Nodaway Valley Community School District is seeking a dynamic student-centered educatorto join our teamimmediately. We are currently accepting applications for a High SchoolSpecial Education Paraeducator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Instructional Support
Assist the teacher with delivering lessons and reinforcing concepts
Work with small groups or individual students for targeted support
Help adapt materials to meet diverse learning needs
2. Student Support
Provide one-on-one assistance for students with academic behavioral or physical needs
Support students with disabilities in accessing the curriculum
Encourage independence confidence and engagement
3. Classroom Management
Help maintain a positive structured learning environment
Monitor student behavior and reinforce expectations
Assist with transitions routines and organization
4. Behavioral and Social Support
Implement behavior intervention plans under teacher direction
Model appropriate social skills and interactions
Help de-escalate challenging situations when needed
5. Clerical and Organizational Tasks
Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
Assist with data collection and record-keeping
Supervise students during non-instructional times
6. Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with teachers special education staff and related service providers
Share observations about student progress and needs
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
7. Personal Care (when applicable)
Assist students with mobility hygiene feeding or medical needs as required.
