Job Overview
We are seeking a competent and reliable Phlebotomist to support a busy GP surgery in Norfolk on a short-term locum basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality venepuncture service while ensuring patient care safety and accurate record-keeping using SystmOne.
Key Responsibilities
Perform venepuncture on a wide range of patients including adults and children where appropriate
Accurately label handle and prepare blood samples for laboratory collection
Use SystmOne to check patient records request forms and document procedures
Ensure correct patient identification and adherence to infection prevention and control guidelines
Maintain a clean safe and organised clinical environment
Manage workload efficiently during busy clinics
Provide reassurance and support to anxious patients
Report any issues incidents or abnormal findings to the clinical team
Requirements
Proven experience as a Phlebotomist within a GP surgery or primary care setting
Competence in using SystmOne
Excellent venepuncture skills with a high success rate
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge of infection control and patient safety standards
Valid DBS (preferred)
Up-to-date mandatory training and immunisations
Working Pattern
23 days per week (flexible days)
Short-term role for 3 weeks
Desirable Skills
Experience working in NHS GP practices
Confidence managing high patient volumes
Experience with paediatric blood draws
