Job Summary

Description

Respond to the 974-HELP line and online referrals for the universitys Distressed Student Protocol. Provide direct supervision to members of the Center for Care & Resilience (CCR) Team. Serve as a campus consultant and wellness resource. Respond to and provide supervision for mental health crisis calls on campus that come via walk-in or through 974-HELP. Complete project work as assigned. Serve a member of the CCR leadership team.



Responsibilities

CARE COORDINATION

  • Serve as responder to 974-HELP line and contact associated with the Distressed Student Protocol
  • Provide direct interventions and ongoing support for high acuity/complex cases and on cases where significant higher level suicidal ideation is present
  • Provide recommendations for intervention/follow-up on complex or high-level cases where significant safety concerns are present
  • Design and assist in the design of individual action plans for distressed students
  • Serve as primary liaison among resource units and agencies as appropriate
  • Develop community resources and facilitate access to treatment including coordination of hospitalizations discharge planning and crisis intervention
  • Support the CCR team by obtaining recording and reviewing updates for distressed students and proactively facilitating information flow among resources
  • Track referrals for distressed students from administration faculty staff and other members of the university community to ensure consistency and availability of accurate data

SUPERVISION/LEADERSHIP

  • Serve as the primary supervisor for 2-4 members of the CCR team (may include paid staff and interns)
  • Actively contribute to the recruitment and hiring of new staff
  • Participate in hiring on-boarding and training of new team members
  • Accountable for scheduling monitoring performance of supervisees guided by department expectations
  • Complete HR processes including providing support performance evaluations and professional development for supervisees
  • Complete professional development plans for all full-time supervisees conduct Quality Improvement activities and develop a supervision schedule that includes regular undisturbed meeting times
  • Serve as a designee on university CARE and Threat Assessment teams
  • Serve as a consultant on the development of department policies
  • Serve as project lead on CCR programming/projects as assigned.

OUTREACH

  • Develop on-going referral relationships with community partners by routine outreach and annual education efforts
  • Participate in department educational or tabling events
  • Serve on select committees as assigned
  • Develop training materials such as resource lists or staff development


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education:Masters degree
  • Experience:2 yrs of relevant progressively responsible experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
  • Knowledge Skills Abilities:Working knowledge of treatment programs mental health terminology including diagnostic categories and trauma informed care models; Strong knowledge of FERPA privacy guidelines; Ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information; Ability to work within Banner Maxient or other campus software platforms associated with the role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education:Other licenses/certification- LPC MFT LCSW LCPC LDAC
  • Experience:2 years of professional experience in Student Affairs Higher Education Counseling Social Work or a closely related field; 1 year of supervisory experience

Work Location

  • Location: Knoxville TN
  • Onsite Hybrid or Remote: Onsite with potential for one remote day per week after 90-120 days

Compensation and Benefits

  • UT market range:MR10
